First of Many

We took a trip to the big city yesterday, something I avoid doing while it is so hot. Our car does not have a/c and the traffic is horrible! Bill visited the archives and I helped at the clinic for a short time. But the trip wasn't all work, Zaky had his first ever visit to Starbucks, he enjoyed the air conditioning and the sofa thoroughly. But after a few dirty looks from other patrons we discovered why McDonalds is so much more popular for the little ones, not to mention the twist cone for the big folks.

6 Months!

Yesterday was Zaky's half Birthday. Weighing in at 8kg : 17.2 lbs. He can now:
1) Sit up by himself (when positioned)
2) lift his head and legs up off the ground while on his stomach
3) play with toys on his stomach
4) sort of drink from a sippy cup
5) make all sorts of sounds
6) stand while supporting himself
7) sleep through the night
8) eat in 10 min
9) suck on his feet
AND the list goes on, I love watching him get bigger. He has charmed the whole neighborhood, and I have the privilege of taking him home and loving on him every day. Happy 1/2 Birthday Zaky!

Jersey Boy

We found this outfit the other day. It made both Bill and I think back to our days on the Jersey shore: the board walk, Duffers, and Guidos. Unfortunitly for Zaky he is the first child of two parents who get a kick out of dressing him funny and taking pictures. But for our family who visit "the shore" frequently and my sister who lives in "Jersey" this little Guido would look right at home.

He's mine

Well the verdict is in he looks like me! Zaky looked just like Bill when he was born, but things have changed. Mostly his chubby cheeks. I will post some baby pictures of Bill when I get a chance, but there really is no need, he's mine. But we are still hoping for Bill's personality.

Waking up...

So I saw this on Zoe's blog and I thought it was to cute. Zaky has been a good sleeper, now he is a GREAT sleeper. He is slowly slipping into 11 hours at night, and 2 long naps during the day. Here is our big boy waking up.

poor ole buger, bess his lil'l heart!

The summer bug strikes again. Unfortunately yesterday was Bill's turn for food poisening. I didn't make nearly as good a care giver as he did, it must be the nurse in me! About 3 am, Bill was crawling back into bed and my Gramms's words off consulation came to mind "poor ole buger, bess his lil'l heart". All will be glad to know he is doing better, but we have both swarn off mayonase and mayonase type products until the fall. This is a picture from earlier yesterday, because who wants to see a picture of sick Bill.

Correction

I am still learning the blog thing, correction: the little boy in the leopard head scarf is Zaky, the little boy below is Canadian.

Growing up Arab

This is my little sixteen pound buddy and the new friends he is making. There are 3 babies his age on the block now.

Funny thing is this little one is Canadian!

New Tooth

Here it comes, the dreaded teething process! Well not really dreaded, kind of exciting. He has been a little cranky, not sleeping well, or at all during the day. All the neighbors seemed to think he was teething. And low and behold a little white bump appeared on his lower jaw. Here is my failed attempt to show it to you.

Say goodbye to salad dressing!

Living here has it's advantages; certain freedoms. But it also has it's disadvantages; only 12 hours of electricity a day. The past week the electricity was especially skimpy. Did this trigger any flags, of course not. We don't often have salad dressing but last night as a special treat I enjoyed the Hellmans Honey Mustard, I even had seconds. 5 am this morning as Dave and Judy were packing up for the airport, I was running for the toilet. 7 hours later I am up. I am very thankful to have a wonderful husband who took our little one to the airport and team meeting with him. Thank you Dave and Judy for raising such a wonderful son. We miss you guys already.

Adventures With Gramma Judy and Grandad

Well their visit is almost over, and we are all sad. Zaky has had a ball (most of the time) playing and being constantly entertained. He is now at the age of contentment. He will go to anyone, laugh on command and is not afraid of much. perfect for the grandparents. Here are just a few of their adventures.

A "flock" of Cedars. The Cedar Zoo Bill called it.
The tallest Roman columns in the world, temple of baal, Baalbeck.
Greek/ Roman city of Tyre
Hiking in the north, funny hat shot!

Just Another Day at The Beach

Zaky's first dip in the Mediterranean

3 generations of shirtless Bowers!

Zaky has been to the beach before, but never swimming. Sunscreen and oversize swim shirt on he took off into the great blue sea. Fortunately he is still young enough to not be scared of the water. Unfortunately though this day his Granddad taught him to splash around, a skill he now likes to practice in the bath tub.

Up and Running

Well Hello all you out there in the Blogger world. This is strange because there could be 2 of you there may be 7, I have no idea how many people will be interested. But if it is only my aunt then it is worth it. I imagine not to many of you out there are that interested in my innermost thoughts or what I had for dinner last night, but more so in the little man in the pictures. I am not the most colorful or creative writer, but I will try to make his stories as witty as possible, and I will do spell check to make sure they are legible. (which will take out some of the cheap laughs!). We are working to keep you part of Zaky's life and maybe this way he can be a part of yours.
