It's a cruel cruel summer.... Poor bruiser got creamed at the beach by his father (for the first time). After wards with a notable burn to the face and right arm. I was soon lectured at the McDonalds by a lady for not taking care of my son in the sun. I quickly placed all blame on his father. Later that day as "I" was changing Zaky's diaper and clothes he rolled over onto the tube of ointment I was letting him play with. A little mark was made under his eye. When he woke up the next morning, such a sad site. Sun burned with a black eye!

Travel Update

Update on our lives here. Bill was asked to teach at a school last fall for this August (before we knew I was pregnant). He was able to shorten his stay at the school, but would still travel the beginning of August and return 10 days before the baby was due. We renewed our resadency visas in March, but they only gave us 3 months, not the usual 1 yr. So our visa's expired in August, just before Bill was to travel, and past when I was allowed to travel. We reapplied, but were told to travel and come back if Bill wanted to travel in August. Confused? So we traveled to a neighboring country this last weekend, stayed with wonderful friends, and upon return were told, to bad your resadency visa is still in effect and will still expire in August. After two trips to the security/ visa office the result was the same. Bill wont be able to travel to teach. Our trip, though some what pointless, was still nice to hang out with friends. It gave us a little tast of what traveling back to America will be like at Christmas (hard, and requiring sleep meds for the little ones). On the plane ride over I laughed, Zaky is so much like his Paa. You can't have any attention from them on take off or landing because their heads are glued to the window.
Water + 1 yr old = No Computer
Smart Christy was holding upset Zaky on her lap one afternoon last week, when guess what? Zaky knocked over Christy's glass of ice water on the computer. 6 days later we have a new keyboard. Combine that with fatigue, heat, laziness, and a splash of prepartum sadness, and the result is no blogging for two weeks. But we are back, for all of you out there who need their Zaky fix.

7 - 8 1/2 - 11
7: How many weeks I have left until baby Yo is born.
7: How many weeks more I will be pregnant.
8 1/2: What size shoe I wear.
11: What size shoe I just bought, because my feet and hands are swelling up like sausages!

Sandra's Birthday
Zaky's buddy had her 1 yr birthday party Saturday. Juice, cake, and of course dancing. Zaky wouldn't dance with the other kids (he's American at heart), but did wait until no one was looking and did a little jig on the side. He's a star where ever he goes. (Side note: the cakes look really pretty, but taste AWFUL! )

Mouth
Bill is always working on the body parts with Zaky. Tonight he showed him mouth then a minute later asked him where it was, he knew! Bill asked if I was working on mouth with Zaky. No I said. Then I thought about it, how many times a day I say "Not in your mouth." Somethings getting through!
Nap Time
Obviously not his nap time, but mine. When I was pregnant with Zaky I took 3 hour naps the first 2 months of my pregnancy, then not at all. Well things have changed. Now everyday around 12 noon my eyes will not stay open. Zaky is sleeping, Bill studying or out of the house, and down I go. Sad thing is my 1 hr naps have now turned into 1 1/2. Last weekend with all of our friends gone, we stayed in. Our neighbor upstairs, Zaky's buddy, had a birthday party, but other then that no plans. I ran errands while Zaky took his nap, but 3 o'clock came around and I was due for my nap. Bill played with Zaky and I laid down. During the birthday party I was taking pictures and noticed these on the camera. What the house looks like when I sleep in on Saturday mornings is even crazier.

Art
biting the crayons.

We are in house most days now from 11am to 4:30pm. A bit difficult for me and the little man. Little man likes to be on the go, and Big Mama finds it hard to play/ distract him for long periods of time that include bending and getting up and down off the floor. So, like our friends, we do art. He is getting much better at not

Day of Doctors

Doctor's visits never come without drama around here. I remember fighting with Bill before almost every visit we had while I was pregnant with Zaky. We had been doing well this time around. Until Thursday. I had my appointment and we managed to schedule Zaky's eye appointment with the retina specialist the same day. Well it was the first of the month so we needed to get money from the bank to pay for these visits. Sounds easy enough. I wait in line at the bank because the ATM is out of order, the teller then tells me we have no money in our account (which sometimes happens if it comes late). The ATM is then working and I wait to use it to take money from our Visa. The machine takes the card. At this point we are 10 min late for the appointment. Bill stays behind to get our card back, I head to the appointment. The nice secretary takes Zaky while I see the Dr. He does a culture, hands it to me to be dropped and paid for at the lab. We have no money! Zaky is content witht he secretary during the appointment chewing on the piece of gum she gave him (small piece). Bill meets us downstairs, he was unable to get the card because it has my name on it. So we all head back to the bank (spacimen in purse) where I wait (Cry form hormones and heat) and pray. On double checking the money has come in but I am not able to access it, only Bill (still don't know why). Bill is able to get our money and we head back to the hospital. Specimen delivered and ultrasound done. Everything looks good, tall baby and still definitely a boy. Off to Zaky's eye appointment. Huge Praise, everything checked out ok. He has a small optic nerve, but because it has nothing in addition to that (separation, bulging, detachment) the doctor said no worries, and follow up with the ophthalmologist for the stabismas (lazy eye). A celebratory sundae was bought at Burger King, and after a quick visit to a friend in a nearby hospital we were on our way home- exhausted! We put the shades on Zaky as he got in and out of the car, his pupils were dilated again.
