As a non native Arabic speaker I definitely appreciate Zaky's language attempts and maneuvering, through both Arabic and English. Yesterday morning:
Zaky: "Where is it?"
Me: "Where's what?"
Zaky: "Where is it?"
Me: "Where is WHAT?"
Zaky: "Where is the make you smell like a big boy?"
Me: "You want Baba's cologne?"
Zaky: "Make me smell like a big boy, like Baba"
-- I put a few dabs of cologne on his neck, he then runs out of the bathroom so proud, "Baba, I smell like you, like the big boy"
Zaky: "Put some on Jonas so he can smell like a big boy too"
Everyone asks if Zaky can speak Arabic, he definitely can get around, get around meaning: he says "thank you" and "where is it" to adults, children he can get his point accross, I am always so impressed that he has communicated some idea to his teacher, but not in front of me. But then I get a little laugh at his expense when the little girl down stairs turns to her mom and says "what did he say I don't understand", I can relate....
