Multitasking

For all of his qualities multitasking is not one of them. Bill was working on an important e-mail with Jonas on the floor in front of him. I had changed Jonas' diaper and forgot the cream on the floor (in Bill's defense). I was working on something else when I heard "Christy I'm sorry". Our littlest man is quickly getting a reputation for mischief maker. Diaper cream also does not wash off for all you out there. It had to be wiped of of him, the rug, and then the bath tub where we had to put him. I am preparing myself for many more stories like this.

Sad Day

Last Monday Bill was out watering our corn and grass when we had a visit from the landlord. We had been expecting this visit for some time. Our landlord's son is moving back and wants our apartment. We never resigned another contract (for fear they would raise our rent). So were out. They have been good to us and saved the apartment upstairs for us. What we weren't expecting is they also have gotten the paperwork needed to build on the land behind us. And they were going to start Saturday! We mourned and quickly called up the nursery owner who planted the grass. We were hoping to move the grass over, Bill even researched how to plant grass on the roof. But to no avail. Friday night we quickly found a neighbor who wanted our beloved grass. Saturday 8am they arrived. First tearing up all the growth we had over the last year the hacking into sections. The builder arrived and offered his mini bulldozer. The gardner convinced the builder to save a tree. Our friends arrived and gathered up some pieces to plant around their house and pulled up the broccoli. We gathered up the first and last zucchini. After a while I couldn't watch anymore. It felt just as if we were giving up our dog or cat. Our pet grass went to a good home, they have 3 kids and plenty of water, they invited me to come visit. THe worst came when the bulldozer began to clear for the outline of the new building. They flattened the corn! I couldn't stand it and hurried through lunch to get out as quickly as possible. So in the next few weeks we will prepair the new apartment and move upstairs. I am still sad!

Finally a hair cut

I have been saying Jonas neeeds a hair cut for several months. Finally I took him to Lamease. Little squirmy wormy was in no mood to sit still. He almost got nipped behind the ear a couple times. But oh how cute he looks now, more like his daddy.

Weekend

Last weekend our fam went to the beach alone. After wards I thought about it, it was the first time we had been to the beach by ourselves in over a year. And the first time we had an entire day by ourselves in over 2 months. We did enjoy each other's company, but the beach got a little boring after a couple hours. We committed to taking more time together over the next several months. Bill said we are in danger of becoming one of those couples that when the kids move out we have nothing to talk about, until one of the kids call.

Career options

Based on his interest today I would say his future career options could include: race car driver, bulldozer operator, professional beach bum, professional baseball player (or Minor League), professional Footballer (the English kind). But if I look at these pictures I would say he is leaning towards plumber...

"All the fine complements, all the good wishes, will never replace help with the dishes"

What does he do now?

He is able to stand anywhere anytime, his execution is greatly improved over the last few weeks, but his dismount is poor. He often gets stuck and starts to cry right around when these shots were taken. But the boy has no fear (except of the beach). 3 times this week Bill or I have left the front door open for no more then 20 seconds, and had to run out to grab the little man before he heads down the stairs. He is quick!

Summa Summa Summer time

Summer time means to me: food, fruit, and fresh veggies (I will always be a Ludlow at heart, and associate every major holiday, season, or happening with food.) Our summer has been slow in starting, we have had late rain and comparatively mild days and cool nights. The summers here have always been a bit disappointing due to the large amounts of field corn people eat around here. So disappointing in fact that Bill brought back his own seeds and is growing his own sweet corn in the back field behind our house. But this week we were given some "normal" corn, that was surprisingly very good. Sadly though I remembered I don't like bar-b-q chicken.

Billy Boy

These shots require to much explanation

Happy 33 to our Billy Boy (well, Billy Boy to his mom, he will always be Bill to me)

Second Times a Charm

this weekend we celebrated the birthday's of Bill and 2 other workers. The place we visited was up in the mountains and still quite cool. But, had an indoor pool the temperature of a warm bath. Well it was perfect. Zaky, as previously documented, does not like pools. He stayed on the side scooping water into buckets (just fine with me much easier to watch). Jonas splashed and splashed, and almost fell asleep with his head leaning on the donkey's tail. Bill played tennis with his buddies.

Beach Baby

Jonas' first visit to the beach of the season. Our friends, who our teachers, have been living at the University president's condo at a resort through the school year. They have to be out at the end of the month, so they invited us to visit last weekend. Zaky couldn't take his eyes off the "sminn pool". But once we got down to the pool he wanted nothing to do with it. He is strictly a beach boy. Jonas on the other hand had no desire to be anywhere near either.

My Boys and their Sleeping

Jonas has learned how to stand up in his crib. This has opened up an whole new can of worms. He works himself up, and has not learned how to get down. He is a climber, and was actually trying to climb up from his crib.

He finally gave up.
Zaky meanwhile, has moved off the sponge we put on the floor, to just sleeping on the floor.
